Minnesota State Chancellor Scott Olson hosts listening sessions at Normandale campus on December 4

Minnesota State Chancellor Scott Olson will be conducting listening sessions at Normandale Community College in the Kopp Student Center Garden Room on Thursday, December 4 as he prepares to launch the president search. There will be opportunities to meet with students, faculty, staff, college leadership, and community members. 

Listed below is the schedule for the listening sessions. All are encouraged to attend the open forum at 1:15 p.m.

Chancellor listening sessions

ACCT Search, a leader in the industry focused on two-year community and technical colleges, is the search firm that will work with Normandale Community College.

Minneapolis College President Sharon Pierce will serve as the search chair working with the search advisory committee.

The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities named Pakou Yang to serve as interim president of Normandale Community College on June 4, 2025. Dr. Yang succeeded Dr. Joyce Ester who served as Normandale’s president from 2014 to June 3, 2025 and was appointed president of Governors State University in Illinois.

Normandale has had seven individuals serve as president/interim president in the school's history sine it was founded in 1968. That list includes Dale LorenzDan Barnett (interim), Tom HorakKatherine Hiyane-BrownBernie Bryant (interim), Joe OpatzDr. Joyce Ester and Dr. Pakou Yang (currently serving as interim).
